Prompt
In one sentence
The prompt is the sentence you type to describe the game. It is the brief. It is not the code, and it is not the ROM.
The detail
Retroable keeps that sentence with the project. On a public game the same sentence is shown under "How it was made", so a visitor can see what was asked for. A private game keeps the sentence off the public library.
A long prompt is still one request. The build covers what it can in a single Game Boy game, and the game page lists what landed. Anything missing is an edit, one change at a time, not a second copy of the whole prompt. From a sentence to a ROM is the longer version of that path.
The model that writes the game sees the prompt. The Game Boy never does. By the time the ROM exists, the sentence has already been turned into C.
Worth keeping
- The prompt is the brief, stored with the project
- Public games show it. Private games do not
- Missing pieces are edits, not a reason to paste the whole brief again
Questions
Where do I read the prompt later?
On the game page, in How it was made, when the game is public.
Does a longer prompt make a bigger game?
It makes a more specific brief. The ROM is still a Game Boy program with the usual limits.
Can I change the prompt after the game exists?
Ask for the change as an edit. That is one change, not a new brief for a new game.
